The Jubaland and South West State quagmire: The Next Crisis and the Way Forward

Regional leaders and states that are members of the Federal government have been at odds for a long time, and one of the factors that contributes to this conflict is elections held at the regional level; historically, this has ignited a tremendous crisis and led to the spilling of blood. There will be a lot of elections in the years or months to come, notably in Puntland and Jubaland, which are known for having elections that are notoriously complex and convoluted. Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed, a close associate of the President, is a leader who is subject to a great deal of criticism and against whom many people are working to remove him from office; his appointment as the immediate President was initially surrounded by a great deal of dispute. For South west, Abdiaziz Hassan Mohamed is a leader who faces a great deal of criticism and against whom many are working to remove him from office.

Now the situation is precarious, and there is yet another controversy surrounding when his term will expire. Politicians and elite from the region are advocating that it will expire in December, while his administration is claiming an additional year because the constitution was amended, and his term is five years long.
